Turkey: Istanbul + Kusadasi

(When East Meets West)

Our recent journey took us through the magical city of Istanbul, straddling two continents amidst the backdrop of Bosphorus Strait, and then down the Aegean coast to the sun-drenched town of Kusadasi. Turkey swept us off our feet! It was a sensory feast of sights, sounds, history, and culinary adventure.

We returned not just with souvenirs, but with stories, flavors, and moments that will stay with us - and that we can't wait to share with you. If you're thinking of traveling to Turkey, don't just check it off your list. Feel it. Taste it. Wander through it. It definitely is more than just a destination!

Istanbul - the city that bridges two worlds (Europe and Asia)

Exploring the West, we got to see the historic European side and appreciate some of the most iconic landmarks that has stood for over 1,500 years.

  • Blue Mosque
  • Hagia Sophia
  • Beylerbeyi Palace
  • Basilica Cistern
  • Grand Bazaar

Exploring the East, the atmosphere felt more laid-back, with hip cafes, trendy art galleries, and fewer tourists in the Asian side of Istanbul.

Kusadasi - Walking down marble streets where Cleopatra once tread? Absolutely surreal.

  • Ephesus
  • Hierapolis
  • Pamukkale - Formed by mineral-rich thermal waters, we got to walk barefoot on the terraces known as the "Cotton Castle" and trek the ancient Roman spa city of Hierapolis.

As the sun was setting, casting a golden glow over Bosphorus, we feasted on fresh seafood, devoured grilled kofte and heavenly kebab, enjoyed every bit of baklava, then grabbed a glass of raki at a waterfront cafe, listening to the sounds of waves mingling with captivating Turkish music.
